Werner Enterprises announced its fourth-quarter profit rose 12 percent as freight demand grew. The company earned $28.8 million, up from $25.8 million a year earlier. Revenue grew 16 percent to $526.3 million from $455.2 million.
For the year, Werner’s profit grew 13 percent to $98.5 million on sales of $1.97 billion. The company earned $87.3 million on $1.68 billion sales last year.
Omaha, Neb.-based Werner says it benefited from a strong need for freight services, along with tight capacity in the overall trucking market.
