Volvo says it delivered more trucks in 2005 than ever in the company’s history. Volvo announced 103,696 trucks were delivered last year, a 7 percent increase over 2004.

In North America, the total truck market comprised 329,000 vehicles, an increase of 29 percent. Volvo deliveries increased 23 percent.

In February 2005, the company presented its new flagship for the North American market, the Volvo VT880. The new truck is aimed at the prestige segment and is equipped with a new 16-liter engine installed in the United States. The investment totalled U.S. $67 million, according to Volvo.
