The national average retail price of a gallon of diesel increased another penny for the week ending Monday, Feb. 6 to $2.50, almost 50 cents more than a year ago.

The average diesel price increased in all regions tracked by the U.S. Department of Energy except for New England. The West Coast had the highest average price in the nation, at $2.65 per gallon. The East Coast followed with $2.54 per gallon, backed by the Rocky Mountains at $2.50 per gallon, the Gulf Coast at $2.46 per gallon and the Midwest with $2.45 per gallon.

Despite the two-tenths of a percent drop in price, New Englanders paid $2.66 for a gallon of diesel.
