GE, a worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, and its Trailer Fleet Services business, a provider of trailer fleet management solutions, has announced the conclusion of a six-week-long sweepstakes to send a lucky winner to the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy.

The grand-prize winner was selected from more than 1,000 entries from the trucking industry and was awarded to Andrew Mier of Phoenix-based Swift Transportation. Entries for the “Stay Ahead of the Game” sweepstakes were gathered in the GE booth at the ATA’s annual meeting in Boston last fall, in advertising promotions, and online at the Trailer Fleet Services website from October to November 2005.

“I was very excited to learn that I had won the trip to the Olympic Winter Games, ” says Mier. “First, I have never won anything this exciting in my life — and two, being an athlete myself by participating in marathons, triathlons and Ironman events, it will be awesome to see world-class athletes participate in the various events.”

The grand prize includes a four-day trip for two to the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, including air, hotel, hospitality and tickets to Olympic Games events. The sweepstakes also included a second-place prize of a commemorative Olympic Games pin, which was awarded to 100 winners. Similar promotions in other industries were conducted by various GE divisions.
