Sterling Truck Corp. has launched a website to assist municipalities in selecting truck specs for their specific applications. Located at www.sterlingtrucks.com/municipalHQ, the new “Municipal HQ by Sterling Trucks” now gives city, county and state agencies an online tool and how-to guide for developing specs.

“For many agencies that don’t purchase trucks on a regular basis, keeping up with the latest products and options on the market isn’t a priority,” says Ann Demitruk, director of marketing for Redford, Mich.-based Sterling Truck. ” ‘Municipal Headquarters by Sterling’ provides all the tools needed to write specs for municipal trucks based on both their equipment needs and the latest technology.”

Popular specs for medium- and heavy-duty dump, refuse and snowplow trucks are featured on the site, as well as Sterling’s Bid Spec Builder, an interactive tool for building and spec’ing customized trucks for these applications. By downloading the Bid Spec Builder for medium-, heavy- or severe-duty trucks, fleet managers can use pull-down menus to choose their requirements for everything from engine equipment to fuel tanks.

Fleet managers also can save and update the bid specs they use every year by downloading the Spec Optimizer tool. Featuring the latest options and advances, such as maintenance and safety features, the Spec Optimizer allows fleet managers to reevaluate their basic specs for updates that can help save time and money.

“The Spec Optimizer is ideal for those who want to update specs that may be several years old,” says Demitruk. “Once an equipment manager has built their ideal spec package, they can easily print it out and bring it to their local dealer.”
