Sitton Motor Lines’ “safety semi” rolled into Seneca, Mo. on Jan. 25 to reach out to both Americorp teen volunteers and the elementary students of Seneca Elementary.

On the first day of the program, Sitton’s public safety education director Laszlo Laky worked with the teens, using the semi to demonstrate the “no zones” of commercial trucks. Seatbelt safety and the dangers of alcohol were next on the agenda: Actual footage of alcohol-related accidents compiled by the Missouri Department of Transportation was used.

Day two of the program focused on the elementary students: Videos, coloring books and catch phrases like “Train tracks are for trains, not children” were used to appeal to the younger audience.
