SMX names December Driver of the Month

Smithway Motor Xpress has named Terry Lehman of McPherson, Kan., its December Driver of the Month. Lehman, who has been with SMX since September 1999, is a flatbed owner-operator who has 29 years of driving experience.

Smithway, a regulated motor carrier operating nationwide and in Canada, is based in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Nathan Meisgeier, president of Omaha, Nebraska-based Werner Enterprises, said his carrier is committing to hire 1,400 veterans over the coming year as part of the Freedom Haulers initiative.
