Investment holding company Clarke Inc., based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has announced that its board of directors has approved the company’s intention to increase its investment in Clarke Road Transport, its wholly-owned trucking operation, by pursuing appropriate acquisition opportunities.
Clarke Road provides comprehensive truckload services within Atlantic Canada and between Atlantic Canada and all major urban destinations in Central Canada and the United States. Clarke Road currently offers both van and flatbed services, including over-dimensional services, on both a full-load and a partial-load basis.
Targeted acquisitions will include refrigerated trucking operators and other businesses that are complimentary to Clarke Road’s existing operations, the company says, and investments in the range of $5-$50 million will be considered. Acquisition opportunities are expected to expand Clarke Road’s service offering and market share within Canada and the United States.
