Wal-Mart Inc. has chosen Crete Carrier Corp. as its dedicated carrier for a new distribution center in Sterling, Ill. Crete will deliver goods to Wal-Mart locations in northern Illinois and parts of Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin. About 60 Crete drivers will be based out of Sterling, with 20 people working in the facility’s main office and maintenance shop.
Crete now has three dedicated fleets that service Wal-Mart stores. The others are based in North Platte, Neb., and Bartlesville, Okla. Operations at Sterling are set to begin in late April.
