Maverick honors driver for 15-year safety record

Maverick Transportation recently presented driver Billy Williams of Alton, Ill., with an award for driving 15 accident-free years.

Williams has driven for Maverick for more than 15 years, receiving numerous safety awards from the Arkansas-based flatbed carrier, including a Million Mile Safe Driving Award. In addition to the award, Williams was presented a customized plaque and a leather jacket.

Nathan Meisgeier, president of Omaha, Nebraska-based Werner Enterprises, said his carrier is committing to hire 1,400 veterans over the coming year as part of the Freedom Haulers initiative.
