Averitt Express has opened PortSide distribution centers in Oakland, Calif.; Panama City, Fla.; and Seattle. Throughout the past three years, Averitt has established distribution facilities in several major U.S. port cities as part of its strategy to expand its international services for its customers.

The PortSide facilities allow Averitt to perform several importing/exporting support services directly at ports, including container drayage, transloading, deconsolidation/consolidation and nationwide intermodal inland transportation management. Averitt also provides a variety of value-added warehousing functions at the PortSide facilities, including cross-docking, product storage, flow-through distribution, assembly, kitting, barcoding, retail-ready labeling and integrated yard management.

According to Averitt officials, the facilities, all located within five miles of their respective ports, will allow Averitt to continue to expand its end-to-end importing/exporting capabilities for its customers.
