Ryder System, a provider of transportation and supply chain management solutions, has announced it was named “Global Visteon Important Partner of the Year 2005” by Visteon Corp. for exemplifying “Best in Class” performance and year-over-year consistent performance.
Visteon is a global automotive supplier that designs, engineers and manufactures climate, interior, electronic and lighting products for vehicle manufacturers, and also provides a range of products and services to aftermarket customers. With corporate offices in Van Buren Township, Mich.; Shanghai, China; and Kerpen, Germany; the company has more than 170 facilities in 24 countries and employs about 50,000 people.

The Visteon Important Partner program is a global program that was established in 2001. Winners are selected by Visteon’s global materials management team, with input from Visteon’s global product groups including purchasing, quality, product development and manufacturing. Selection criteria are focused on supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, value, technical capability and customer service. Award recipients must achieve 100 percent concurrence across all customer functions and operating regions to confirm that they have demonstrated a high level of performance. Supplier awards were granted for the following areas: metals, non-metals, nonproduction goods and services, electronics, transportation and local supplier of the year.
