ALK Technologies recently won a Transportation Marketing and Communications Association 2006 Compass Award. The awards program recognizes organizations in North American transportation and logistics that have created an effective strategic marketing or communications program. ALK was honored at a formal awards gala during the 10th annual conference and educational forum held May 21-23 at the Keystone Resort & Conference Center in Keystone, Colo.

This year, TMCA received 200 entries from 72 organizations. ALK Technologies was presented with the Merit Award in the New Media category for a flash demonstration featuring PC*Miler|Mobile. ALK says PC*Miler|Mobile is the industry’s first truck-specific navigation system for numerous Java, GPS-enabled mobile phones. All entries were evaluated using a seven-point scaling system. Fifty percent of the total score is based on the Work Blueprint, a detailed write-up on the project; the other 50 percent is based on the work sample. The awards program is judged by peers, clients, consultants, educators, outside experts and industry media.

“The Compass awards program is important because it raises the standards of professionalism and marketing effectiveness in our industry,” says Tom Nightingale, vice president of corporate marketing for Schneider National and chairperson of the 2006 Compass awards program. TMCA is the only association dedicated to exclusively serving marketing, sales and communications professionals in all modes and market segments of North American transportation and logistics.

“ALK Technologies is honored to be recognized by one of the premier business-to-business marketing and communications associations” says Craig Fiander, senior director of marketing for Princeton, N.J.-based ALK Technologies. “We are pleased that industry marketing experts have deemed our marketing efforts at par with our industry-leading routing, mileage and mapping software solutions.”
