Axonn, provider of asset monitoring hardware for the Globalstar Simplex Data Network, has hired two new executives and relocated its headquarters from New Orleans to Covington, La.

Jon Shapiro joins Axonn as director of channel marketing and business development. With nearly 20 years in the transportation industry, Shapiro has led the product development, marketing and sales teams that developed and deployed state-of-the-art global wireless transportation solutions for such companies as Cummins, Rockwell International, Nexiq Technologies and Qualcomm.

Walter Debus joins Axonn as director of engineering with a background in the research design and manufacturing of transmission equipment. Debus spent 31 years with AT&T Bell Laboratories in various senior management roles. He currently holds nine patents in a variety of technical areas, including RF circuits and systems, ASIC design, optical systems and DSP development.

As a result of the damage caused by Katrina, Axonn has maintained temporary offices for the past year. Moving to its new headquarters location in Covington, Axonn has increased office space from 3,000 to 5,000 square feet.

“2006 is shaping up to be quite a year for us,” says Frank Dalton, chief executive officer of Axonn. “Because of the rapid growth we have experienced in the past year, we knew we were going to relocate our headquarters to a larger location, but we just weren’t planning on it happening the way it did. We have experienced double-digit growth since the beginning of the year. The addition of Jon and Walter is going to add even more fuel to the fire, and we are excited to see what the rest of the year holds for us.”
