Decker Truck Line has selected James Rowe as the May 2006 Driver of the Month for the flatbed division. Rowe has been with Decker since October 2002; he and his wife, Tamara, along with their children, live in Marseilles, Ill. In 2005, Rowe was selected as the Driver of the Year for the flatbed division.
Selected as Driver of the Month for the reefer/van division was Darrel Schaffner, a company driver who resides in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with his wife, Karen. Schaffner has more than 30 years of service with Decker, beginning his career with the company in June 1975; he is a member of Decker’s Million Mile Team, achieving the two million mile level without a preventable accident.
Drivers and owner-operators are nominated each month by their dispatcher, and are selected based on their overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment, payroll and billing, and customer service. All drivers and owner-operators who are selected as a Driver of the Month will be eligible to be chosen as Driver/Owner-Operator of the Year.
