Hino Motors Sales USA, an affiliate of the Toyota Motor Corp., has named Miami-based TruckMax its top dealer in the United States. TruckMax, a commercial truck dealership led by automotive and trucking industry veteran Joseph De Maria, also led the country in sales and finance, selling a record 150 Hino Trucks and financing $10 million in commercial vehicles.

The awards were presented at a May 22 ceremony in the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas by Shoji Kondo, president of Hino Motors Ltd./Japan; Hiroji Kurayama, president of Hino Motors Sales USA; and Nick Vermet, senior vice president of Hino Motors Sales USA. “TruckMax has done a truly outstanding job representing Hino,” Vermet says. “Their contributions have helped Hino become the fastest-growing medium-duty truck manufacturer in North America. We are extremely proud to have TruckMax as a Hino dealer.”

TruckMax specializes in sales of new and pre-owned medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with a full service and parts department staffed by factory-trained, certified technicians. TruckMax also owns and operates Babco Engineering, which manufactures truck bodies. The company sells a number of custom-made trucks, including refrigerated, dump, wrecker, flatbed, vans, landscape and tow trucks, among many others. In 2005, TruckMax had sales in excess of $25 million.

“This is a proud day for all of us at TruckMax,” De Maria says. “We are honored by this achievement made possible through the support of our entire team, from our factory representatives to our sales and finance teams to our service department. Our entire staff is to be applauded. Mr. Kondo set an ambitious sales goal for 2006 of 6,800 new trucks, and we are committed to helping the company reach that benchmark.”
