Continental Tire North America announced that it has signed an agreement with International Truck and Engine Corp. to supply International branded trucks with Continental tires. The agreement will provide all International Truck dealers with the ability to order both the Continental and General Tire lines of tires as a published option.

“An expanded relationship with Continental supports International’s growth strategies, including share expansion in the line-haul segment, growth in new markets and introductions of new products, including the new ProStar model tractor,” says Steve Gilligan, assistant general manager of International’s Heavy Vehicle Center. “We are pleased to be able to offer Continental and General brands as advertised options to satisfy our growing customer base.”

Clif Armstrong, CTNA’s director of original equipment and marketing, views the relationship as being beneficial to the end user. “Continental’s HSL and HDL Eco Plus tires have proven themselves to be solid performers in the tire industry,” Armstrong says. “The technologically advanced compounds help reduce rolling resistance, which can lead to better fuel economy. In today’s world of rising diesel prices, the advantage of Continental’s products, paired with the well-known quality of International’s trucks, will be a significant benefit to both Continental’s and International’s customers.”
