Sirius Satellite Radio today, Aug. 10, announced that Kenworth Truck Co. will include Sirius on selected Class 8 truck models with the VIT sleeper interior. Kenworth will use the DEA300 Sirius/AM/FM/CD radio, the first all-in-one Sirius integrated radio available as factory installed in the commercial vehicle market.

“Driver comfort is especially important in the trucking industry today as drivers spend more time in their trucks under the hours-of-service regulations,” says Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales in Kirkland, Wash. “Drivers already appreciate Kenworth’s new cab interior equipped with two high-performance speakers. Sirius is the best fit to further enhance driver comfort in both Kenworth’s cab and top-of-the-line VIT sleeper by providing quality in-vehicle entertainment.”

Sirius also is available as a regular factory-installed option on all Kenworth Class 8 models in non-VIT sleeper and day cab configurations. As a special incentive, Kenworth customers will receive three months of complimentary service on Kenworth vehicles equipped with a Sirius system through May 31, 2007.

“We are thrilled to be included on Kenworth VIT sleeper-equipped vehicles,” says Tom Steckbeck, Sirius vice president of special markets. “Since 1923, Kenworth has produced durable and innovative products for their commercial vehicle customers. We look forward to working with them to supply their discriminating customers with the best music, sports, talk, news and entertainment programming on radio.”
