Less-than-truckload carrier Con-way Freight was recognized for its safety record and practices by the Utah and Minnesota state trucking associations.

In Utah, Con-way Freight received two Great Western Casualty awards. The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based company placed first in the LTL 4-Million Mile category with the lowest number of accidents per million miles driven of any carrier in the state. It also received first-place honors in the General Commodities category for industrial safety by having the lowest number of worker injuries per 200,000 hours worked of any carrier in Utah.

In Minnesota, Con-way Freight received first-place honors in the Minnesota Trucking Association’s fleet safety contest. The company achieved the best on-road safety record in the Less-Than-Truckload Combined and the Less-Than-Truckload Local categories. The awards were based on Minnesota mileage and accident statistics and given, by carrier type, to the company with the lowest accident frequency ratio.
