J.J. Keller & Associates and the National Private Truck Council recently presented a free webcast, “Driver Pay and Productivity (Case Study Analysis),” that provided a look at how a private fleet can successfully transition from a straight compensation-based plan to a pay-and-productivity-based plan. For those who were unable to participate in the webcast, J.J. Keller is offering a free audio/video recording of the presentation at www.jjkeller.com/driverpay4.

Presenters explain how to determine driver capacity and capability as well as how to establish driver standards. They also discuss how to develop and implement an activity-based compensation plan in order to create a more efficient fleet operation. Other topics include trends in the transportation industry regarding driver productivity and the use of performance-based driver programs; driver pay and benefits; driver turnover; and the aging driver pool.

Webcast presenters include Gary Petty, NPTC president and chief executive officer; Jeff Jaeger, CTP, regional logistics director at Dean Foods; Bob Boyich, vice president of sales and marketing at CPC Logistics; John Hinton, NPTC fleet member representative; Lee Falk, director of logistics at Dean Foods; and Tom Bray, J.J. Keller transport management.
