GeoLogic Solutions, a provider of multimode communications and tracking systems for the transportation industry, announced it has completed the purchase of the iMotient Solutions platform from Motient Communications. Effective with the purchase, the name of the service has been changed to CrossBridge Solutions.

CrossBridge is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that provides third-party wireless data services. The CrossBridge service provides cellular data communications on the Cingular and Sprint networks and satellite communication services from Orbcomm to a variety of companies that utilize wireless data communications as part of their mobile or field service applications.

“We acquired the iMotient platform because we are dedicated to growing and enhancing our business,” says John Lewis, president and chief executive officer of Herndon, Va.-based GeoLogic Solutions. “Acquiring the communications platform that plays an integral part in the success of our business makes GeoLogic a stronger company and benefits all our customers. Additionally, we will continue to support existing iMotient customers and are excited about the opportunity of growing that business both within and outside of the transportation industry.”

Lewis says GeoLogic has been tightly integrated with Motient for several years. “We firmly believe the wireless data communications market is growing rapidly, and the number of small and mid-size companies seeking a source for their wireless data services is expanding,” he says. “We look forward to establishing CrossBridge Solutions as a leading provider of wireless data services and know it will play a key role in our continued success.”
