TravelCenters of America has issued a call for independent travel center operators who are interested in becoming TA franchisees. The TA network currently includes 162 travel center facilities in 41 states and Canada, with opportunities to fill market needs along U.S. interstate highways and state routes.
TA currently has 23 franchise operations across the country; last year, three independent locations – in Wapakoneta and Napoleon, Ohio, and Oakley, Kansas. – signed franchise agreements. “We are very selective in who we invite to join the leading brand of travel centers on America’s highways,” says Dave Raco, director of franchising for Westlake, Ohio-based TA. “We’re looking for strong operators who would represent the TA brand well.”

TA announced Monday, Sept. 18, that Hospitality Properties Trust is purchasing TA for about $1.9 billion. HPT is a real estate investment trust, or REIT, that owns 310 hotels located throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and Ontario, Canada. TA expects the transaction to close in early 2007.
