Trucker Buddy International, a nonprofit organization that creates pen pal relationships between professional truck drivers and classes of schoolchildren all over the world, received money from several fund-raisers at this year’s Great American Trucking Show, which was held Aug. 24-26 in Dallas.

Before the truck show, an Aug. 23 golf tournament organized by the U.S. Truckers Golf Association and held at the Twin Wells Golf Course in Irving, Texas, netted $645.33 for the organization.

On Aug. 25, David Allen, a Trucker Buddy volunteer and former rodeo champion, raised $1,166.01 for the organization through a bull-riding challenge held at Gilley’s Dallas nightclub.

On Aug. 26, Communications Development, a transportation marketing company, presented Trucker Buddy with $2,885.86 in proceeds from its Strike It Rich Casino Day and Mimosas Brunch fund-raiser held last May in Nashville, Tenn.

In addition to collecting the donations, Trucker Buddy ambassadors also were on hand to sign up new Trucker Buddies at their booth and to attend the American Trucking Associations ice cream social for commercial driver’s license holders and their families.
