The week ending Monday, Sept. 25, brought an almost 12-cent drop in the national average price of diesel. Drivers paid $2.595 per gallon compared to $2.713 per gallon the week before, the U.S. Department of Energy reported.

Once again, all regions experienced price drops. The Rocky Mountains led the pack with a 22.5-cent drop; at $2.827, prices in that region fell below $3 for the first time since July. The West Coast fell below $3 for the first time since April, to $2.892. And for the second consecutive week, the Midwest had the lowest diesel prices at $2.506 per gallon.
