The Great American Trucking Show recently was named the “Fastest-Growing Consumer-Hybrid Show” by global exhibition industry news magazine Tradeshow Week. From 2003 to 2005, GATS grew from 420 exhibitors occupying 142,510 net square feet to 506 exhibitors in 190,320 net square feet.

The award was accepted by GATS executive director Alan Sims during the 4th annual Tradeshow Week Fastest 50 awards gala, held Nov. 12 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. At the awards ceremony, more than 230 exhibition industry executives celebrated the 50 fastest-growing shows in North America; growth is based upon percentage growth and net square footage of growth between 2003 and 2005.

“Our winning shows demonstrate why the tradeshow industry is so dynamic,” says Adam Schaffer, Tradeshow Week publisher. “This year’s top winners reflect diverse industries and rapidly-evolving markets. All are run by top professionals that deserve this important recognition.”

The 2006 edition of GATS, held at the Dallas Convention Center on Aug. 24-26, continued the event’s growth. GATS played host to 45,914 attendee registrants, with 560 of the top companies in trucking on display, according to the show’s organizers. Attendance at GATS 2006 marked a 2.2 percent attendance growth over 2005, and a three-year attendance increase of 15 percent, show organizers said.

GATS 2007 will be held Aug. 23-25 in Dallas. For more information, go to www.gatsonline.com.
