Pitt Ohio Express and The CEI Group have formed a partnership to jointly offer comprehensive services that enable truck fleets to operate more safely and efficiently under the brand TruckGuardian Group.

Pitt Ohio Express is a less-than-truckload (LTL) regional carrier that has won multiple trucking safety awards from the American Trucking Associations. CEI is a global provider of technology-enhanced vehicle accident, claims, risk and safety management services for self-insured fleets and insurance carriers. Together they will deliver the following lines of service:

  • Risk and safety management services, including fleet safety consulting, driver training services both Web-based and in-person, and compliance and testing services; and
  • Collision and claim management services, including collision management from first notice of loss (FNOL) through loss recovery, on-scene accident response and post-accident claim services.
  • “Our partnership will help transportation carriers address three of their most urgent needs – improving safety, finding and retaining qualified drivers, and reducing operating costs,” says Charles Hammell III, president of Pitt Ohio Express.

Wayne Smolda, CEI’s founder and chief executive officer, says the TruckGuardian Group business initiative benefits from the combined resources, expertise and experience of both companies. “This partnership is a fresh start with a mission to establish trucking solutions and services, but it begins with combined experience of 50 years of successful service to fleet operators, and a proven track record of reducing accidents and saving millions of dollars a year in the costs of roadway accidents,” Smolda says. “We are excited that Pitt Ohio Express has partnered with CEI to build this business model.”
