Higher diesel prices no holiday for truckers

The national average price of a gallon of diesel increased by 1.4 cents during Thanksgiving week, the week ending Monday, Nov. 27, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The average price was $2.567, almost 9 cents more than the same week last year.

Prices increased in all regions except the Midwest, where diesel remained at $2.554 per gallon. With an increase of 3.6 cents, the West Coast saw the biggest change from last week; drivers there paid $2.76 per gallon, the highest price in the country. At $2.479, the Lower Atlantic had the lowest prices for the second consecutive week.
