Diesel price jumps up another nickel

The national average price of a gallon of diesel jumped by a little more than 5 cents for the week ending Monday, Dec. 4, marking the fourth week of increased diesel prices. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average price was $2.618, about 19 cents more than the same week last year.

Prices in California jumped by 15 cents to $2.860, the state’s largest increase since the week of April 24. The West Coast as a whole also paid an average of $2.860 per gallon, an increase of 10 cents from the previous week. The Midwest saw the smallest increase, moving up 2.4 cents to $2.578. People on the Gulf Coast paid the least for diesel at $2.537.
