Not-so-happy holidays: Diesel price edges up again

The national average price of a gallon of diesel moved up slightly for the week ending Monday, Dec. 11, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The average price was $2.62, three-tenths of a cent more than the previous week.

However, California was well above the national average after experiencing a 10-cent per gallon increase over last week. At $2.963, prices there are again nearing the $3 mark. The entire West Coast region also saw a large increase, jumping 7 cents from $2.860 to $2.931.

On the East Coast, the cost of diesel remained the same at $2.610 per gallon. And in the Lower Atlantic and Midwest regions, prices decreased by nine-tenths of a cent and 1.5 cents, respectively.
