Merry Christmas! Diesel price drops slightly

The national average price of a gallon of diesel fell slightly for the week ending Monday, Dec. 18, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. The average price for the pre-Christmas week was $2.61, roughly a cent less than the $2.621 charged during the previous week. The week’s price was 0.144 cents ahead of last year’s average.

California remained well above the national average at $2.917, despite a nearly 5-cent drop from the previous week. The entire West Coast region also enjoyed a price drop, falling to $2.887 from the previous week of $2.931. The Rocky Mountain region saw the second-highest average price, at $2.716 per gallon. The Gulf Coast saw the cheapest average, at $2.519 per gallon.
