EnerSys now offers its Odyssey PC680 battery with a terminal adaptor kit that enables the SLI (starting, lighting and ignition) battery to be mounted vertically. The new mounting configuration is designed to make the battery adaptable to more applications, where a drycell battery with a long service life is preferred to traditional flooded batteries that leak acid and may require frequent replacement.
The PC680 provides both deep cycle operation and high cranking power, as well as fast charging capability, according to the company; in addition, the 12-volt PC680 has superior vibration resistance, and its rugged construction allows it to be installed in any orientation (except inverted) without sacrificing any performance attributes. It offers a service life of six to eight years and a two-year storage life at room temperature, versus a conventional battery’s two- to three-year service life and six- to 12-month shelf life. The PC680 also features a robust 12-year float life.
Specifications for the Odyssey PC680 include five-second pulse hot cranking amps of 680 A at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, cold cranking amps of 220 A at 0 degrees, cranking amps of 300 A at 32 degrees, and hot cranking amps of 370 A at 80 degrees. EnerSys says the battery features an M6 bolt for both the female receptacle terminal and the vertical cable mount termination adaptor, a reserve capacity of 24 minutes, and a deep cycle capability of 400 cycles at 80 percent depth of discharge. It weighs 15.4 pounds and measures 7.27 inches long, 3.11 inches wide and 6.67 inches high.
