Heavy-duty truck software provider Karmak recently announced that its Legend business management system is now available for HP Integrity servers running the OpenVMS operating system. Karmak says the new software release allows customers to easily upgrade from HP AlphaServers or VAX servers, as well as take advantage of the high performance of the HP Integrity family of servers.

“Karmak is dedicated to providing superior technology solutions to the heavy-duty industry, and we are confident that the Legend system combined with HP Integrity servers and OpenVMS offers exceptional value and performance,” says Bill Healy, president and chief executive officer of Carlinville, Ill.-based Karmak. “This release is the result of rigorous testing both in-house and at customer sites to ensure optimum efficiency, reliability and return-on-investment for hundreds of customers using the Legend software package.”

Karmak says Legend provides heavy-duty truck dealers, parts distributors and service facilities with a complete management system for single or multiple locations. Users combine Legend’s basic package with optional plug-in modules, including Web- and Windows-based applications, to control all aspects of their operations, such as inventory, parts sales, vehicle and trailer sales, service department management, core management, accounting, lease and rental management, and factory communications.

“Karmak is a leading technology provider in the trucking industry,” says Michelle Weiss, vice president of marketing for HP’s business critical systems division. “The availability of Karmak’s Legend business management system on HP Integrity servers running OpenVMS will provide Karmak customers with a tremendously reliable platform that is extremely flexible and cost-effective.”
