Nearly three dozen metro Indianapolis companies have been named among the top 50 “best places to work” by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Celadon Trucking Services and the Baker & Daniels law firm are among the large-sized companies, those with 250 or more employees; companies with fewer employees are in a separate category.
The program honors businesses that create a productive environment in which employees feel valued, as determined by employer reports and employee surveys. The actual rankings of the companies on the list will be announced at a luncheon on May 2.
The Best Companies Group, which conducts similar programs in 18 other states, produced the list with ModernThink, a workplace excellence consulting firm. The program is based on Fortune magazine’s noted “100 Best Companies to Work for in America.”
It is designed to “honor those exemplary employers and to encourage other Hoosier businesses to evaluate their workplace environment to see how it affects their employees,” Chamber President Kevin Brinegar says. “Common sense tells us that an employee who feels valued will likely be a more dependable, productive worker, and therefore have a positive impact on the company’s bottom line.”
