Abex brake products manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corp., a global provider of commercial-vehicle brakes, announces the expansion of the Abex line of commercial-grade brake products for medium-duty vehicles to include more than 3,500 premium hard parts such as wheel cylinders, master cylinders, rotors, drums, remanufactured calipers and a full complement of other brake hydraulics, cables and hardware.

Abex says its medium-duty offering – which already includes more than 230 different premium disc brake pads and new steel brake shoes – now provides complete brake system coverage for more than 600 vehicle applications. This expanded medium-duty product line extends well beyond Abex-branded disc brake pads and shoes to include loaded remanufactured calipers, unloaded remanufactured calipers, brake hoses, master cylinders, wheel cylinders, rotors, drums, hardware kits, power assist units and other components offered by Federal-Mogul.

The newly expanded line is now available as a comprehensive medium-duty program through Abex brake distributors. “This extensive new product offering enables distributors to become a one-stop source for virtually any popular medium-duty braking application,” says Brian Rassin, director of commercial vehicle friction for Southfield, Mich.-based Federal-Mogul. “We offer the premium quality demanded by today’s vehicle operators, as well as the coverage and accessibility distributors require to increase their share of the huge medium-duty market.”

Distributors and service providers choosing Federal-Mogul’s Abex product line now also have comprehensive coverage of school bus applications – including Amtran, Blue Bird, Ford, Freightliner, GMC, International, Mid Bus, Thomas Bus, and US Bus – as well as coverage of DaimlerChrysler Sprinter vans and all domestic and import nameplate commercial vehicles.

“Fleet technicians and service shops traditionally have had to source parts from three or four suppliers or vehicle dealerships when working on this vehicle segment,” Rassin says. “Now they can choose their Abex distributor for a full package of premium replacement parts.”
