According to recent polls sponsored by AAA, the public is increasingly skeptical of plans to lease the Pennsylvania Turnpike, New Jersey Turnpike, the Atlantic City Expressway and the Garden State Parkway.
AAA Pennsylvania Federation, AAA New Jersey Clubs and AAA Mid-Atlantic each conducted polls to measure members’ opinions on the issue. Of the licensed drivers polled by AAA Mid-Atlantic, 70 percent oppose public-private partnerships as a means of generating money for transportation needs.
Further, the Pennsylvania State Senate Transportation Committee has received dozens of letters opposing the proposal to lease the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
