Diesel price drops nearly 3 cents

The national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped nearly 3 cents for the week ending Monday, April 23, to $2.851. The price also was down 2.5 cents from the same week in 2006, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

The average retail diesel price decreased in every region tracked by DOE; the Gulf Coast saw the largest weekly drop — 3.4 cents to $2.815. Drivers in the Rockies and the West Coast again paid just under $3 per gallon; in the Rockies, the price was $2.978, and on the West Coast, $2.953.
