Mack Trucks Inc. recently named Salinas y Fabres S.A. (SALFA) of Santiago, Chile, as its 2006 International Distributor of the Year. SALFA, which has been a Mack distributor since 1938, has 11 locations throughout Chile. This is the seventh time SALFA has been named Mack International Distributor of the Year.

Roberto Salinas, son of co-founder Ramon Salinas, is chairman and chief executive officer of SALFA. Roberto first began working for the company in 1961, starting out in the tire department. The company has made significant investments in the last several years in new and upgraded facilities, and currently has more than 800 employees.

Each year, Mack honors its high-performing distributors and chooses its top distributor from the United States, Canada and international operations; the 2006 U.S. and Canadian Distributors of the Year were announced in April. Categories included in the selection criteria include sales, facilities, personnel, leasing, service, parts, general management, customer satisfaction and community service.

“Salinas y Fabres demonstrates Mack’s commitment to customer satisfaction and quality in markets around the world,” says Frank J. Meehan, senior vice president of international operations for Lehigh Valley, Pa.-based Mack. “The performance of SALFA and our other international distributors has been critical in making Mack one of the best-known and most-respected truck brands in the world.”
