Texas has expanded a law that allows municipal police to enforce commercial vehicle safety standards. Beginning Sept. 1, more than 40 Texas cities will become eligible to enforce truck rules provided that they are certified to do so by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The new law includes cities with populations of at least 34,000 if they are located in a county that borders two or more states. It also includes cities with populations of 25,000 or more located in counties with populations of at least a half-million residents.
