Truckers now can use their laptops or any computer to find truck-accessible biodiesel fueling sites along their planned routes. ProMiles and the National Biodiesel Board have announced the availability of biodiesel locations in ProMiles XF, the commercial vehicle/truck routing and mileage software for professional drivers and fleets.
The NBB, ProMiles, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the Oil Price Information Service are working together to produce a continuously updated and accurate list of truck-accessible biodiesel locations to be included in mapping software. This first set of locations now is incorporated into ProMiles XF software and available for truckers.
The announcement was made Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas. “We are really excited to have biodiesel locations available for our customers,” said Chris Lee, marketing director for ProMiles. “They have been asking for this, and once again, we are delivering.”
ProMiles XF software is available on CD and features address-to-address truck routing. Truck-accessible fueling locations are marked for pre-route planning or on-the-road searches, without the need for Internet access, the company says. Now, truck-accessible fueling locations that carry biodiesel can be found, along with information including the blend — such as B20 (20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent petro-diesel) — hours of operation, and more.
Utilizing OPIS IDs to identify the fueling locations ensures accuracy, ProMiles says. The first release of software includes a subset of truck-accessible biodiesel locations out of the nearly 600 that are identified on the NBB’s trucking website, www.biotrucker.com. The NBB will continue to add more locations as OPIS IDs are assigned.
“ProMiles is the first mapping software company to approach us about showing biodiesel locations in its mapping software,” said Tom Verry, NBB’s director of outreach and development. “They are pioneers in the industry and are looking to keep current with what their customers are demanding.”
