TMW Systems, a provider of enterprise management software to the North American transportation industry, announced today, Sept. 17, that it has acquired Integrated Support Decision Corporation (IDSC). TMW also announced the release of TruckMate 8.0, an enterprise software system for trucking fleets and logistics providers.

IDSC is an independent provider of optimization-based decision support software for the trucking industry. The company’s software is designed to work with all major dispatch and operations software platforms, providing solutions to carriers looking to achieve higher revenue per loaded mile, control the route and minimize fuel and out-of-route costs. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“Today’s announcement represents one more step in our strategy to create a portfolio of solutions to the transportation industry of unprecedented breadth, quality and value,” said Dave Wangler, president and chief executive officer of Cleveland-based TMW Systems. “TMW’s mission is to deliver products that deliver compelling competitive advantage with a minimum of risk for customers.”

TMW says that with IDSC’s decision support solutions combined with its own ERP and fleet maintenance applications, it can provide a seamless solution for the results-driven trucking company, or focused complementary solutions that address specific needs. In addition, IDSC’s TruckloadRate.com and FuelAdvice.com add significant strength to TMW’s broad portfolio of Internet-based applications, according to the company.

Customers of both companies will benefit from this acquisition through expanded products and services, broader geographic reach and greater scale, TMW says. TMW Systems already has extended its Lifetime Support Policy to include IDSC’s entire product line; this policy states that TMW Systems is committed to supporting any customer of any product as long as they continuously subscribe to support and maintenance or renewals.

TMW plans to accelerate growth of IDSC products, expand R&D investments and increase employment. “With access to TMW’s more than 1,500 customers, and TMW’s considerable technology, personnel and financial resources, we have an unparalleled opportunity to grow our customer base,” says Richard Murphy, CEO of Richardson, Texas-based IDSC.

Customers will see additional improvements in support, accelerated innovation and improved integration, IDSC says; all of its products will be supported, enhanced and expanded, including Netwise Enterprise, Netwise Frontline, Match Advice Netwise Supply Chain, Expert Fuel, Trip Alert, Route Advice, TruckloadRate.com and FuelAdvice.com.

Updated TruckMate

TruckMate is a package of operations, dispatching and accounting software designed to provide tools such as logistics, less-than-load and dedicated carriers. TMW says the new release builds on these functions and adds more than 4,000 enhancements, including updated filtering abilities, full-monitoring support and multiple AR/AP improvements.

“The beauty of this release is that everything we’ve done is a result of either what our customers have requested to keep them current and running smoothly, or what our programmers have designed to keep our customers on the cutting-edge,” says Bob Maddocks, TMW’s senior vice president of business development and former founder and president of Maddocks Systems.

Additional benefits of the software, according to the company, are:

  • New Streamlined User Interface;
  • Enhanced LTL and Cross-Dock Support — complete with Carrier Assignment windows and a wireless cross-dock application;
  • Enhanced Detention Billing Module;
  • Simplified Report access, along with nearly 100 new standard reports; and
  • Support for TMW Imaging, D2Link, The Dawg and Driver’s Seat.
  • TMW says the new version is certified for use on Windows Vista and supports 64-bit database operating systems.

    “The TruckMate 8.0 release is significant for two reasons,” Wangler says. “First, it contains some great new functionality. Second, it is the largest release in the history of the TruckMate product line, evidence of TMW’s commitment to continue to evolve and strengthen the TruckMate product after our purchase of Maddocks Systems in 2006.”
