Cadec Global, a provider of fleet management systems, today, Oct. 8, launched PowerVue, which it describes as the trucking industry’s first Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based, hosted fleet management solution.
Intended to enable companies to maximize the business value of their fleets, Cadec’s PowerVue is designed to help fleet managers address challenges such as:
Unlike traditional mobile communications systems that primarily emphasize messaging and location, or OBC systems that focus on collecting data, PowerVue adds a level of intelligence by combining the most advanced onboard computer system with a Web-based, enterprise-class data management application, according to Cadec; this enables PowerVue to translate vast amounts of fleet data collected from each vehicle into actionable information that can be leveraged throughout the supply chain.
While simple, browser-based tools are limited to providing access over the Web, PowerVue’s use of Web-services technology combined with its dynamic Web interface provides new levels of end-user customization to adjust to the way each person needs to see their data, as well as easy integration to systems throughout the supply chain, Cadec says; users easily can create role-based dashboards to present data to different types of stakeholders within the organization and even create customer service portals for their clients to view real-time information on when to expect their deliveries, including a map that tracks truck locations.
Turning fleet data into actionable information, PowerVue is comprised of several components, according to the company:
“The launch of PowerVue marks yet another first that Cadec has introduced to the market,” says Michael Baney, chief executive officer of Manchester, N.H.-based Cadec. “It’s the culmination of months of work that involved not just the efforts of our employees, but also the many customers who gave us their input on the ideal fleet management software, and then helped us refine the product by field-testing it in their own environments. We’re very proud of the result.”
