Star Transportation honors 3 safe drivers

Star Transportation honored three of its drivers — Morrell Driggers, Ricky Tidwell and Joe Weathersby — for achieving 15 years of safe and accident-free driving.

To recognize their driving efforts, Driggers, Tidwell and Weathersby each received a tractor-trailer made of crystal in a special awards ceremony held recently at Star, based in Nashville, Tenn.

Nathan Meisgeier, president of Omaha, Nebraska-based Werner Enterprises, said his carrier is committing to hire 1,400 veterans over the coming year as part of the Freedom Haulers initiative.
