Decker Truck Line recently announced its Drivers of the Month for December 2007. Gary Geisinger was selected for the honor from the Fort Dodge, Iowa-based company’s flatbed division, and Joe Holmberg received the award for the reefer/van division.
Geisinger, who lives in Eagle Grove, Iowa, has been with Decker since March 2002. “Gary has been a very valuable driver for the short-haul fleet,” says Rich Hiesterman, Geisinger’s dispatcher. “He gets along well with the other drivers and helps out when needed.”
Holmberg, who also lives in Eagle Grove, started with Decker in September 2000 as a flatbed driver, and in March 2005 switched to the reefer/van division. “Joe works hard, is always willing to help out and is a very reliable driver,” says Scott Myers, Holmberg’s dispatcher.
Each month at Decker, dispatchers nominate drivers and owner-operators based on overall service and performance for that month. Operational productivity, safety records, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll and billing, and customer service are evaluated for each driver nominee. Each monthly award winner from December 2007 through November 2008 is eligible to receive the award for 2008 Driver (or Owner-Operator) of the Year.
