The two-lane left exit ramp from Interstate 59 south to I-459 south in Birmingham, Ala., will be closed today-Friday, Jan. 16-18, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day for workers to repair a hole on I-59, the Birmingham News reported.

Traffic will be restricted to one lane, using portions of the shoulder, on the ramp from I-59 south to I-459 south during the work, according to the News; ALDOT officials suggest motorists use alternate routes or expect delays.

If the work is not completed on Friday, repairs will continue during the same times next week, Alabama Department of Transportation Spokesman Tony Harris told the newspaper.
