USA Truck Inc. announced Friday, Jan. 25, that Garry Lewis has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer; and that Eric Brown has been promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations. Both promotions are effective immediately.

“The addition of intermodal service, the increased emphasis on brokerage service and the interaction between general freight, regional freight and dedicated freight has dictated the need for a COO to ensure that our customers’ needs are properly serviced across all of our business offerings,” says Cliff Beckham, president and chief executive officer of Van Buren, Ark.-based USA Truck.

Lewis began his career at USA Truck in 1986 and most recently was senior vice president of operations. Before coming to USA Truck, he was with ABF Freight System Inc. and its subsidiaries for 13 years.

Brown has been with USA Truck for more than 15 years, working in a variety of positions in the maintenance, operations and risk management departments. Earlier in his career, he was a regional maintenance manager for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville, Ark., in its private trucking fleet.
