The America’s Road Team is in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., this week to help educate truckstop owners and operators on the needs of professional drivers across the nation. Speaking at the NATSO Show 2008, America’s Road Team captains are leading the educational session “America’s Road Team Driver Panel,” today, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Captains Dennis Day (Con-way Freight), Kent Durant (Roadway), Larry Shelton (Old Dominion Freight) and Rick Whittle (Bulldog Hiway Express) are discussing trucking safety and trends, the challenges they face as drivers and what professional drivers require while on the road. The elite team of drivers are providing an insight to help truckstop operators and owners create a more conducive environment for drivers at their establishments.

“Each of the captains of America’s Road Team has extensive personal knowledge to share with the truckstop owners and operators,” says Matt Kelly, Volvo North America executive director of marketing. “They have decades of professional driving experience and millions of miles of safe travel, along with extensive interaction with other drivers around the country. This gives the Road Team captains a valuable perspective on how truckstops can continue to enhance the experience of truck drivers at travel plazas and truckstops every day.”

The Road Team also has an exhibit at the NATSO Show 2008 to talk about the image and professionalism of drivers. The America’s Road Team, sponsored by Volvo Trucks North America, is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway.
