Randall-Reilly Publishing announced that Investcorp, a global provider and manager of alternative investment products, has acquired the company in conjunction with F. Michael Reilly, Randall-Reilly president and chief executive officer, and other members of management.

Based in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Randall-Reilly publishes CCJ, Overdrive and Truckers News magazines, and produces the Great American Trucking Show, the Great West Truck Show and the Pride & Polish competitions, among many other enterprises in trucking, construction and industrial media.

Investcorp is acquiring Randall-Reilly from Wachovia Capital Partners and members of management. Terms of the transaction, expected to close in the first calendar quarter, were not disclosed.

“We have been most impressed with the Investcorp professionals and their insight into our key markets,” Reilly says. “Investcorp has a distinguished 25-year track record of success, and, through a number of existing and past investments, possesses exceptional knowledge of the media industry, as well as of Randall-Reilly’s markets. This is an exciting time as we embark on another period of rapid growth, which will allow us to offer new and expanded products to serve our customers.”

“Randall-Reilly’s management team has generated impressive growth in the business, both organically and through acquisitions,” says Sean Madden, an Investcorp managing director. “We believe the company has a terrific franchise with significant opportunities to grow, and we look forward to supporting Mike Reilly and his team in achieving their strategic goals.”

“We have enjoyed a terrific partnership with Mike Reilly and his team,” says Sean Smith, a partner at Wachovia Capital Partners. “The team has demonstrated great success in growing the business, and we believe that Investcorp is an ideal partner for Randall-Reilly in the next stage of its growth.”

Investcorp’s other holdings in the transportation industry include trucking and logistics company Greatwide; American Tire Distributors; aftermarket parts distributor FleetPride; and Welcome Break, a United Kingdom operator of motorway service areas, akin to U.S. turnpike service areas.
