Pan Western appoints compliance director

Pan Western Corp. recently announced the appointment of Dorian Shearer as compliance director. Shearer comes to PWC with more than 30 years of experience in all phases of transportation inventory management.

His most recent position was as assistant service center manager for Quality Carriers in Southgate, Calif. He also has held positions with McCollister’s Transportation in Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Fun Bus Systems in Anaheim, Calif.; and Liquid Air Corp. in Anchorage, Alaska.

“The industry knowledge, strength and leadership offered by Dorian will provide a solid foundation and ensure that our high-quality standards are met at every level of compliance and customer satisfaction,” said Charlie Ring, chief operating officer for Las Vegas-based Pan Western.

Some of Shearer’s key responsibilities for PWC include developing safety policies and programs; implementing safety development, indoctrination and training; identifying compliance requirements and government reporting regulations affecting safety function; and supervising auditing of drivers’ logbooks for compliance with Department of Transportation hours of service regulations, with follow-up counseling as necessary.
