The Missouri Motor Carriers Association has named Prime driver William Girdler as its Missouri Driver of the Year. Pete Rahn, director of the Missouri Department of Transportation, presented Girdler with a framed certificate and a trophy to honor his achievement during the recent 61st annual Safety Awards Luncheon.

MMCA’s Driver of the Year is chosen from among that year’s winners of Driver of the Month; Girdler of Pomona, Mo., was honored in October. Girdler has been a professional driver for more than 33 years and has never had a single chargeable accident in the more than 4.5 million miles he’s driven throughout his career.

Two other drivers for Prime – a refrigerated, flatbed and tanker carrier based in Springfield – also were honored during the luncheon for winning the monthly honor in 2007: Robert Conger of Enosburg Falls, Vt., for June; and Harvey Williams of Rochelle, Texas, for July.
