Regional parcel carrier Eastern Connection recently expanded its lease with an additional 11,000 square feet in Woburn, Mass. The company also appointed Steve Melvin as regional operations manager, and Brian Grigg as human resources manager.

With construction completed in January, the Woburn complex, which serves as the company’s headquarters for office and warehouse space, is now a 41,000-square-foot facility. Eastern Connection says the expansion allows it to sublease space to some of its customers to help them with supply chain logistics needs.

“The additional space allows us to improve efficiencies in our overnight and logistics operations,” says Steve Lavigne, executive vice president of operations. “This includes using a new parcel sorting system, which will increase our sorting capacity and help to dispatch routes earlier.”

Prior to joining Eastern Connection, Melvin was center manager and package operations supervisor for United Parcel Service in Warwick, R.I. Grigg previously was human resources manager for Charles Lea Center in Spartanburg, S.C.; he also has served as operations coordinator for SelecSource in Norcross, Ga., and operations manager for All Pro Personnel Inc. in Atlanta.
